Scope
These terms apply when you use this website, pdf.railman.io, and other services we host on *.railman.io, unless a product publishes its own terms. They do not replace the licenses on our GitHub repositories, registrar contracts behind the domains CLI, or third-party identity providers.
The services
Railman maintains tracks for developer tooling. Today that includes this site, open-source packages under @railman, and a public Typst PDF press. We may add, change, or retire a line without notice. Hosted services are offered as-is, without a service-level agreement unless we agree to one in writing.
Accounts
Some lines, including the PDF press, ask for an email address and sign-in. You must be at least 16, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher. Keep API keys and magic links to yourself. You are responsible for jobs and templates created with your account.
PDF press
The press compiles bounded, text-only Typst packages. We reject images, remote fetches, undeclared packages, and fonts you upload. Fonts come from our allowlist. Quotas, credits, and rate limits may change. Generated PDFs are kept for about 24 hours; job history is kept longer so you can see what ran after the file is gone. Do not submit secrets you cannot afford to store with us for that window.
Acceptable use
Do not use the services to:
- break the law, or traffic in malware, CSAM, or exploit kits
- probe, flood, or bypass the press policy, quotas, or auth
- impersonate Railman or resell access as if it were yours
- submit personal data of others without a right to do so
We may refuse a job, revoke a key, or close an account when we believe these rules were broken.
Your content
You keep the rights to Typst sources, templates, and data you submit. You grant Railman a limited license to host, compile, cache, and display that material as needed to run the service. Cache hits may reuse an identical compile. Public templates in the library are readable by signed-in users; private ones stay with your account.
Our content
The Railman name, mark, and this site are ours. Package source is licensed in each repository. Do not suggest we endorse a product we did not publish.
Disclaimers
The services are provided without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Compiles can fail. PDFs can expire. We do not warrant that output is legally sufficient for any filing, contract, or locale.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Railman is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for a claim relating to the services is limited to the amount you paid us for them in the 12 months before the claim, or zero if you paid nothing.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top is the current version. If a change is material we will say so on this page. Continued use after that date is acceptance.
